2019 Underwriters Tournament Update: We Might Have Some Upsets…

Tournament Update of the SPAC Sixteen Matches

We currently have no less than three matches that are evenly tied!  As expected, the match up between BofA and Jefferies has been back and forth all morning and is now back at dead even.  These two promised an exciting horse-race since both are fairly equally weighted being ranked 8th and 9th, respectively.

Additionally, Chardan has surged recently, after a slow start and is now also tied with Stifel, while EarlyBird appears to be getting out the vote in their match-up with UBS.  EarlyBird and UBS are now ALSO in a dead heat at midday.

And finally, BTIG is currently squeaking by at 56% to Credit Suisse’s 44%, but it’s still anyone’s match to take. It’s June madness!  Will BTIG be the spoiler and unseat last year’s winner?…..

In other news, Deutsche Bank, Citi and Goldman Sachs are currently winning their matches and look likely to win, but remember…the final winner is the accumulation of ALL votes received in each day’s match. So for example, if Goldman has more total votes in every match they win, they could still win the final round by having more votes than they’re competitor, even if they “lose” in the final match-up.

There’s still time to cast your vote….voting ends at 10PM tonight.

With the passage this weekend of $95 billion in funding for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan by the House of Representatives, some focus has gone back towards the defense sector, which has generally had a good year as a whole.
