The Rumors are True: Spartan Energy Files with Apollo as Sponsor, Underwriter & Forward Purchaser

Spartan Energy Files for $400 Million SPAC Backed by Apollo

Breaking news:  Spartan Energy Acquisition Corp. files for a $400 million SPAC, backed by Apollo as Sponsor, Underwriter and Forward Purchaser. Plus, Citigroup is back in the game for 2018 with another energy SPAC, and back in a big way on the left of the cover.

I’m currently going through the filing and will report back with details as soon as I’ve had a chance to read through the entire document.  However, there were two other filings tonight as well:  Tenzing Acquisition Corp. (profile here) and Megalith Financial Acquisition Corp. (profile here). The Megalith name is…questionable…and frankly, reminds me of a certain Michael Bay movie.  Next up, the Optimus Prime SPAC?

All told, three new SPACs on a Friday evening jibes right with my predictions….late July filings to tee up the fall calendar.  Expect more in the next two weeks.

Stay tuned for more details.
